Derbyshire Attractions

Derbyshire is full of exciting attractions and places to visit. Apart from the gorgeous romantic scenery of the Peak District, Derbyshire has an abundance of stately homes, country houses, museums, parks and historical buildings of note. There are also a number of leisure attractions that cater for people of all ages.

Stately homes make for enjoyable Derbyshire days out and amongst their number include: Chatsworth House - Bakewell, Haddon Hall, Hardwick House, Keddleston Hall and Eyam Hall in the well-know plague village of Eyam. Apart from the interesting architecture and decoration, most also have well laid out gardens to be enjoyed all year round.

The Peak District is one of the most popular tourist areas in the world. Apart from the breathtaking vistas, there are also the caverns where the famous Blue John Stone is mined. Treak Cliff Cavern and the watery Speedwell Cavern both are wonderlands of Stalactites, Stalagmites, Rocks, Minerals and Fossils. From underground to the heady Heights of Abraham at Matlock Bath, this hilltop park is a must for all visitors to Derbyshire. It can be reached via cable car which allows a great view of the limestone gorge atop which it sits.

For a fun day out, especially if you have children with you, a visit to Gullivers Kingdom at Matlock bath is hard to beat.
